Fire on the mountain, run, run, run!

It’s so sad to see the beauty of our Mountain here in Cape Town covered in smoke. She’s burning alive.

All I want to do is help. How do I help the brave firefighters? The animals? Everyone is already doing so much. It’s pleasing to see how many organizations are donating refreshments to the Lakeside Fire Dept. I’m just sitting here, watching the ashes dance in the atmosphere.

Each little flake of ash, now lifeless, was once part of a greater grandeur: our beautiful forests.

The sea air is gone, and in its place, sits the smoke. I inhale and take in the fear and pain of lost and injured animals. There were houses lost to the fire as well- the investments, the memories in those homes: no one can replace or get back.

I pray that the fire can be managed sooner, rather than later.

“Eight homes were damaged and 300 people EVACUATED as firefighters battle in Muizenberg where a fire broke out over the weekend, Cape Town Disaster Risk Management said.”

That’s not a cloud, that’s smoke from the mountain. I live quite a distance away, way it is affecting us too. It’s getting closer.

God help the firemen!

Beautifully written as always thank you. Its the cycle of nature, life death and rebirth and we are weak and helpless in the face of natures onslaught I know it happens every 10 to 15 years but it always leaves me sad especially for the animals.
